Development

CTM0012

Development is a strategic priority, and we continue to make thoughtful investments to support our team members in building capabilities and improving competencies. In FY22, our integrated talent framework across AmerisourceBergen took a progressive approach to performance management, and enhanced enterprise learning strategies and programs to drive a consistent and inclusive experience.

Our integrated talent framework is based on our leadership competency model, which focuses on inclusion, collaboration, and innovation. This model provides a common language and behavioral standard for assessing performance and potential, which is enabling a culture of accelerated growth and development for our team members. We also prioritized team member development through a robust performance management process that includes rigorous goal setting, succession planning, performance, and talent calibration. Actionable tools and resources are provided for managers and team members to have meaningful conversations focused on impacts and outcomes. In FY22, we increased the number of manager/team member check-ins and encouraged managers to include a focus on well-being in their discussions to support our teams better holistically.

Our vision of modern, consistent learning experiences was deployed to strengthen the learning experience for team members through a centralized approach to funding, resourcing, and deployment, connecting learning offerings to business priorities. Our offerings for People Leaders accelerate leadership capabilities and elevate coaching, inclusion, and engagement skills with a focus on empathy, emotional intelligence, and innovation.

Other career advancement tools offered include professional development programs and resources, tuition reimbursement, and opportunities to volunteer and participate in mentorship programs and Employee Resource Groups. Many of these programs are influenced by responses to our enterprise-wide Employee Experience (EX) Survey. In FY22, we launched the EX Survey in 22 languages to all team members globally. This survey helps us better understand and action overall team member feedback and sentiment while measuring cultural inclusion, team member satisfaction, and engagement.

Health and safety

Our relentless focus on team member health and safety is ingrained in everything we do. In the U.S., Distribution Center (DC) jobs are designed, monitored, and measured with health and safety top of mind. Our U.S. Operations team convenes a National Safety Committee quarterly to review and evaluate data and issue operational excellence scorecards. The DCs also leverage a peer-to-peer safety program, encouraging near miss reporting and providing monthly topics to reinforce environmental, health, and safety (EHS) training and policies.

As we have expanded our global footprint through business acquisitions, we are sharing best practices and aligning EHS efforts globally.

Spotlight on health and safety

Coinciding with National Forklift Safety Day, team members at Alloga UK took the opportunity to run a week-long event to reinforce the importance of compliance and adherence to all health and safety policies and procedures. Additional safety information and signage were installed to serve as reminders of the need to stay vigilant and alert when operating machinery, be aware of potential consequences , and prevent avoidable accidents. Other events throughout the week included guest speakers, health and safety competitions, and best practice sharing.
“At AmerisourceBergen, our mission is to implement proactive processes for the management of environmental, health, and safety by creating a protective environment that puts people first, provides transparency and open communication, and meets global EHS regulatory requirements, resulting in reduced EHS incidents and costs through a managed EHS system. EHS is an integral part of AmerisourceBergen’s purpose to create healthier futures.”
